Types of printing

Digital

Digital printing is a relatively new technology. Quality is improving all the time, making this a very cost effective solution for low volume colour print jobs. Where your volumes are larger or you need the best possible quality, litho printing is still the answer. Digital printing is generally only possible on stock material of up to 250–300gsm in weight.

Litho

The traditional litho process still delivers the best print quality available, and MCM Direct works with several well established suppliers offering a full litho printing and finishing service. Because we are not limited to one particular press we have a selection of sheet fed and reel fed printers at our disposal, so we can pick the supplier with the best possible equipment to produce your job. We are experienced at managing the production of a very wide range of printed materials including letterheads, brochures, flyers, catalogues and more.

Envelopes

We can supply envelopes printed in full colour, and also offer the flexibility of spot colour production for jobs where you have particularly critical colour matching requirements. For high quality finishes on volumes of up to 100,000 envelopes we recommend litho printing, while for higher volume jobs we use a flexo system that delivers good results at the lowest possible cost.

Polybags/Polythene

Polybags and polythene can be printed in up to 5 colours, although it should be noted that short runs are relatively expensive due to the setup costs involved. Standard off–the–shelf colours available for bags are Black, Pillar Box Red, Neon Green, Metallic Blue, Grey Recycled, Pink, Purple, Violet, Green, Clear and White.

Polybags are available as made to measure with thicknesses from 25–120 micron. Polythene is used on larger polywrapping runs and is wrapped around the mailing piece. Typical thicknesses are 25–35 microns.
